WHAT IS RE-ENACTMENT?
About HQ-Command
(in deutsch)
World War II was one of the most significant events of the 20th century. Even conflicts today can be traced back to these fateful times. Only the one who understands the history will be able to comprehend the political/social as well as the military present. Books and specialist literature are one way to aquire knowledge about the history of all epochs.
In addition to that, museums offer materials for the visual understanding. All too often though, perturbs the callously exhibited, behind glass and barriers, an idea of how it could have been in former times.
Imagine yourself now in the time between 1942-45. We pick Great Britian and you are taking a break at a hedge after a tour with your bike across fields, passing corn-fields. All of a sudden you hear engine noises. A plane, followed by a few others, takes off into the air. The badge of the American Air Force was clearly visible on the wings. Behind the small forest you discover an air base.
You observe planes being refueled and repaired while vehicles go back and forth with the material. On one side of the fields you can make out tents. Black clouds of smoke escape from the chimney of the field kitchen while a messenger driver leaves the camp on his motorcycle.
First aid kits are unloaded at the medical tent, female members of the army of the WAC build a connection to the telephone switchboard and you can hear the adjustement of the frequences coming out of the radio tent. A part of the group gathers around a radio that plays swing music.
Scenes like the ones described above cannot be experienced at a museum!
The Re-enactment, as living history, is perfectly suitable for this ! Visit our USAAF HQ-Command, an air force camp with original vehicles and working equipment, as well as actors in authentic uniforms of alliance army members. We are looking forward to meeting you!
Postscript
It is important to us that we do not re-enact any kind of war action. We therefore significantly differ from fighting groups, infantry units and their weapon shows, the so called battle-Re-enactment. Our IG distances itself from scenes that simulate killing and is certainly never a part of our presentation. If weapons appear in our camp they purely complete the equipement and are imitations or deactivated- not ready to fire!
We are not motivated politically and have the freedom of speech. Anyone that says we glorify war or sees us as weapon fanatics has not and does not want to understand anyhing.
